In PvE Hero Challenges (HPs) are earned and collectively pooled per each character on your account. HPs are not to be confused with Mastery Points (or Mastery Insights), which are account-bound. Unspent HPs are used to train your character in an elite profession - you need a total of 250 unspent HPs to completely unlock an elite.

Levelling routine : I usually try to get every hero point on every zone, from low level zones to higher level zones, depending on my character level. Doing some hearts or events when I come by some, gathering wood, plants or metal when I have gathering tools and walk past some nodes.

Some of these do require certain masteries like Ley-Line gliding for one in Dragon Stand. The thread also recommends some of the easier fight related Hero points which can easily be soloed. If all else fails, play WvW and use the Heroic Notary unlocks to get the remaining required Hero Points. you level by gaining xp. the first 5 skills on your bar are tied to weapons.equit in hero panel (first tab in the first tab) last 5 are utilities and can be unlocked with heropoints in the hero panel (third tab in the side bar of the hero panel) hero points are gained throug leveling and hero chalenges. MikeG, please share the easier/faster methods to get to level 80. Seriously, I am all ears as I am just learning the game. After review, crafting for about $5 gets the character to max in a reported roughly 2 hours. Things to remember-Try to get as much hero points as you can get prior to level 80. If you want an elite spec, you will need to unlock ALL TRAITS and ALL UTILITES.-Dont use EXP boosts and tomes until later, when leveling gets slower.-DUNGEONS, DUNGEONS, DUNGEONS.-HAVE FUN!
Intro. There is only one known way in the universe to level a mesmer without wanting to hang yourself by your toenails by level 10. They're squishy at low levels moreso than most classes, don't kill as fast or feel as powerful pre-80 (as, say, thieves or warriors) and hence are harder to level, don't outgrow that till around 50-60, and don't actually get good till you're geared up in Exotics
1: It appears that the best thing to do with Testimonies of Jade Heroics is to use them to level Elite specs. Is that still true? 2: Assuming so, I am trying to decide which specs to train. I have a max level character of every class except Revenant, who is level ~25 (I have multiple level 80 boosts). When I made a new elementalist I wanted to be a weaver I used Tomes of Knowledge to level them to 80, went straight to Path of Fire maps and did 25 hero challenges to get 250 points, then bought a full set of exotics from the Trading Post and they were ready for World vs World a few hours after being created. (In retrospect I should have bought Rxex.
